We can offer the luxury contemporary villa and the 200-year-old farmhouse cottage with original beams and limestone walls with all modern amenities, for rental together or separately.

Hameau des Martres is set outside the rural village of Le Gicq in the Charente Maritime department of the Poitou Charente in western France in the middle of beautiful countryside (less than 20km from Cognac). An easy drive to the coast and beaches yet set in a stunning location, completely surrounded by open fields.

Accommodation:

This exclusive holiday villa is set in the middle of the Charente Maritime countryside with stunning views in all directions. The villa has its own spacious garden area surrounding it, with a private gated entrance to the swimming pool area (with child safety lock). The four large bedrooms, three doubles and one children's twin room (which also has a selection of toys and games) are comfortably furnished.

The luxury villa  has a large modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances. There is a beautiful lounge which is decorated in contemporary style. Four big bedrooms. Private driveway, double French doors with patio area plus a huge decked area at the rear of the property overlooking the magnificent pool.

The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room with mosaic tiling. The main bathroom, once again with mosaic tiles, is huge with an enormous 270L bath. There is a spacious lounge which has windows looking south over the village of Le Gicq and plenty of comfortable seating for all. There is also a DVD player and small selection of films.

The contemporary open plan kitchen / diner has stunning views, particularly of the amazing sunsets. It is extremely well equipped with a double fridge freezer, large stainless steel Range cooker with electric oven/grill plus 6 ring gas hob (including a wok burner) with stainless steel extractor. Matching stainless steel dishwasher, microwave, toaster, electric kettle etc. plus all crockery, glassware and cutlery needed for a very comfortable stay (childrens colourful plastic plates, cups and cutlery also provided). Two of the double rooms at the rear of the villa have twin patio doors opening out onto a large wooden deck which overlooks the
absolutely beautiful pool area.

The entire pool area is walled, with self-locking gates and the pool is sensitivity alarmed for the safety of children. The pool itself is heated and 12m x 5 m with a gently sloping beach style entrance so that the little ones can also play safely (with supervision naturally). There is plenty of room around the pool area for sunbathing and relaxing. Ample loungers and chairs are provided. The pool area also has a covered 'gazebo' in case you need a little shade. A modern teak table, chairs and parasol are also provided for those lazy lunches by the pool or cocktails at the end of the day to watch the amazing and uninterrupted views of the fabulous sunsets (a real feature of this villa). The villa is the owners' second home. It is therefore finished, furnished and decorated to a very high standard. Consequently it has a real 'home away from home' feel to it. There is a huge terrace area for sunbathing and has beautifully exotic plantings all around. The views are simply stunning and the unspoilt sunsets incredible. There is a large field with trees at the rear, a perfect place for the children to play in safety                                   

The beautiful cottage can be let separately or together with the luxury villa. Just the two properties share this stunning location with its fabulous pool and gardens.  The cottage sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and a childrens' single room.  It has a full modern bathroom with bath and shower attachment, basin and toilet, with loads of hot water and excellent pressure. The cottage is stylishly decorated and furnished in a modern style. It does however retain its 200 yr old charm and character with its charentaise fireplace, exposed stone walls and original oak beams. The spacious kitchen area has plenty of cupboard space and worktop and is well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, gas oven, grill, 4 ring hob, toaster and microwave plus all crockery and cutlery required for a comfortable self catering holiday. There are two leather sofas and a dining table for 5 in the open plan
downstairs. It has off road parking and a spacious front terrace area for outdoor dining with wooden garden table, chairs, parasol and barbecue.
