We prefer the areas around St Raphael and Frejus (it gets busy, yet retains a certain charm and avoids the tourist shops and neon lights that tend to spoil some places such as Antibes, Nice, St Tropez) and Cassis/ Ciotat (also unspoilt and less crowded, with dramatic scenery and coastline).

Beaches in the Riviera

Most people heading to the area will be planning to spend time on the beaches.  The area around St Raphael has some fine beaches….. if you travel from St Tropez to Grimaud you will find the coastline is packed with coves and delightful beaches although many are inevitably packed – it can be hard to find peaceful seclusion here!

Everywhere you will find it busy and parking can be a problem in many places.  If you want to spend a day on the beach you are recommended to make a day of it and arrive early!

Weather..

Certainly the weather has much to recommend it, even in March you can have warm days with temperatures into the low 20 degrees C, although in the early spring and late autumn it can still be chilly when the wind gets up. Up to date forecast here.Temperature Profile
